Nine years after the amalgamations, Scarborough still needs a greater share of community services. As a Candidate for Toronto City Council in Ward 43, Abdul Patel will work for:

Abdul Patel, his wife and 3 children are residents of Ward 43 for the past 12 years and have lived in the City for over 35 years. Mr. Patel has an outstanding record of community service to the City, to the Province of Ontario and to Canada.

Founder of the Ansaar Foundation in 2000 to address the problem of Homelessness

Organizer of successful Walks for the Homeless in 2005 and 2006 to raise awareness and funds to serve the needs of the homeless

Member of Toronto Police Chief Bill Blair’s Community Advisory Council;

Served on the Board of Governors of Riverdale Hospital on behalf of the City of Toronto

Moderator for the Spicer Commission’s Citizen’s Forum on future Constitution for Canada

Past Chair, East York Community Development Council;

Served on the Board of Flemingdon Park Community Legal Clinic;

These and other diverse leadership experiences demonstrate the leadership skills and commitment needed to represent the residents of Ward 43.
A Fair Share for Scarborough
needed to improve TTC services in Scarborough, improve the learning environment for children and youth. A fair share of resources for Scarborough will help create more green space in Ward 43 and build more recreational facilities that are accessible and affordable for the community.
Community Safety
As a member of the Advisory Council of the Toronto Police Chief since 2003, Abdul Patel fully understands that we all have a role to play in ensuring the safety of our community. He supports community policing that is results-oriented community based system which relies on the cooperation of police officers, volunteers and community members. Mr. Patel will work towards more effective relationship between Police and City Hall. He believes in providing the community with the tools needed to take a leadership role in reducing crime in our community.
